I have been tasked with setting up a new KMS server. I attempted to do so a few weeks ago with Server 2012. I was running into problems activating Windows 10 and Office 2016 with Server 2012 as the KMS host.

I tried the hotfixes, but I couldn't get it to work. I figured I would just wait a few weeks until Server 2016 was released.

Fast forward to a few days ago. Using VMware I have Server 2016 Standard setup, however, anytime I run Volume Activation Tools it crashes. I am able to get as far as putting in the KMS host key, but when I try to activate, it crashes. The crash error is: VMW.exe has stopped working (Event ID Error below) Despite the error I was able to apply one of the KMS Host keys, Server 2016, and I was able to manual configure the DNS entry.

I would like to share a safe way to get Microsoft Office 2016 ISO's directly from Microsoft, avoiding the need to download torrents that may be. Licensing by a batch script rather than using a closed source KMS activation tool. For the VL serializer and post #22 for the MAC office 2016 installation package.

With this key in my Windows 7 and Windows 10 OS's are checking in and activating. When I try to do the same for Office 2016 host key, through the Office 2016 key management, it crashes in the same spot but does not complete the activation.

I have tried the following: - Installed VAMT 3.1 VAMT takes they key, but It doesn't appear to work. If I push it to the PC i get the following Event error 'The Software Licensing Service reported that the product could not be activated. No Key Management Service (KMS) could be contacted' - Install the key through the command line - Install Office Professional 2016 on the server and enter the KMS Host key. Power cd g burner 2 keygen software. Didn't take - SFC Scan - Disk Check - Took ownership of Vmw.exe and granted full rights to the admin account and trusted Installer. - Reloaded Server 2016 from scratch - Twice At this point I assume that there is a bug in Server 2016 since its only a few days old.

Either that or it has something to do with it being on a Vmware virtual server. I wrestled with this this morning, and finally got it all working. Here's what I did: 1. Forget the GUI.

It's going to keep crashing. Instead, open an elevated command prompt, and enter: slmgr -ipk That will install the KMS key on your machine.

Then, install the Office KMS license packs: Office 2010: Office 2013: Office 2016: The Office 2010 pack failed on install - but it added what I needed anyway, so take that with a grain of salt. I installed them in order, oldest to newest. Once you've installed all of those, install the Office KMS keys you have (don't forget the dashes!): slmgr -ipk slmgr -ipk slmgr -ipk I did those in order, too - Office 2010, 2013, 2016. Now, you'll collect the Installation ID's for everything - I found it easiest to generate a dump: cscript slmgr.vbs -dlv all >C: Temp licenses.txt You need to use the cscript command, because otherwise you'll get a screen of non-scrollable text. Anyway, you'll need 4 different Installation ID's, listed in the following sections: Name: Office 15, OfficeKMSHostVL_KMS_Host edition Name: Windows(R), ServerStandard edition Description: Windows(R) Operating System, VOLUME_KMS_WS16 channel Name: Office 16, Office16KMSHostVL_KMS_Host edition Name: Microsoft Office 2010, KMSHost edition Each one of those sections should net you a 54 digit long Installation key. Do yourself a favor, and throw them into Notepad, so you can keep them straight. Break each into 9 groups of 6 digits.

Then, it's activate by phone time (my KMS isn't Internet attached, so I had to do this. You may be able to stop here with an slmgr -ato command, to activate online. If not, continue on, intrepid explorer).

I dialled the number, and it gave me the option to instead do it with my smartphone, texting me a link to an activation center - much easier. That link was - or, you can phone them at the number you got when you attempt to activate by phone. Putting in each group of 9 sets of 6 digits, one at a time, let me generate a new 54 digit response key, also 9 groups of 6 digits. Write them down! Finally - activation time.
