Marc 'Traveller' Miller is raising funds for Traveller 5th Edition on Kickstarter! Traveller5 is the ultimate edition of the Traveller science-fiction role-playing game: rules and concepts you never thought possible.

Has anyone picked up one of these CD collections yet? Care to comment on the quality? Looking through the published errata pages, it looks like they're fairly clear, if sometimes faded. I ask because I've seen far too many PDF products consisting of really poor book scans, some nearly illegible. I have had and for a while now.

I just got three more Journal of Travellers' Aid society, FASA and Gamelords Licensed Traveller and Traveller the New Era Canon arrive in the post today and about to submit them to the database here. The PDF's on them are the same ones you get from popular for purchase download sites, but they work out much cheaper overall than purchasing the PDF's individually or even in bundles from download sites.

For example the MegaTraveller core books are $10 each or $28 for all three, withthe CD for only $35 you get these plus 8 other books that all sell for $7 each plus a few extras. On the quality of the PDF's they do vary a lot. Some are quite good, some are quite poor.

There is errata for missing pages available on the publishers website. I have come across an occasional upside down page as well. Most are easily readable, and I have have not come across any that I could not read with a little effort.

The PDF's do have searchable text, not just an image of the page. However it looks like this has been done with OCR and little if any editing or checking so they are littered with spelling errors and symbols replacing text as one might expect in OCR. Things like l instead if i etc.

So while there is certainly a lot of room for improvement in what the PDF's could be I feel that I am certainly getting value with the sheer amount of material that comes on them for the price. I haven't seen the PDFs, but I would assume that they're produced from the same masters as FFE's Classic Traveller reprint series (well, at least for the Classic GDW stuff), and those are pretty good.

Some of the half-tones on subsector maps had trouble, but everything else was clear. I've been waffling between the hard copies and the cdrom. My fear has been that the hard copies would simply be bound prints of the pdfs, but it sounds like it may potentially be the opposite, or they might be just plain different. I suppose the best solution would be to email FFE directly and find out the definitive answer.

I have the hard copies of the books and the supplements. Norton ghost 12 iso 2016 requirements. I am very happy with the quality of them. I am biased towards paper, though. It is cheaper to buy the pdfs. I'd actually prefer the hard copies myself.

I spend far too much time staring at a screen as it is, so I'd happily pay more for a high quality paper product. I couldn't agree more in prefering the print books, and generally happy to pay somewhat more for them. However in this case, even beyond a huge price difference which may have been enough itself, there were several other factors pushing me to CD: *the postage costs of sending heavy books to Australia. *not all the materials on the CD-Roms have been printed in the reprint books.

*some of the reprint books themselves are out of print. *the extra shelves I would need to store all the books compared to the CD's.
