Norseman Wood Heater Manual
We have run our stove 3 seasons.it sits in a small building out side our house and piped into our duct work.80 degrees in our house all winter.we feed it wood every 12 hours.6am & 6pm.being outside we don't need a high chimney and never worry about a chimney fire ( let it burn and clean it self out )The manufacture of these stoves stand behind them 100% and are very nice to deal with if you have a problem.they send us 2 new blowers at no charge cause ours were making noise this year. This is a five star company. I've heated my home with this furnace for 2 years now. It puts out a tremendous amount of heat, but I'm very unhappy with it. You can't light a fire and forget about it. Nope, this furnace requires almost constant babysitting. The bimetal thermostat draft control on the front door doesn't work at all.
Not even a little bit. On the high setting, the dampers don't close until the flue temps are 900+, and once they do close, they won't open up again until the fire is smothered out. I checked every variable imaginable so I'm thinking this is just bad design. A quick google search, and you'll find other people struggling with the same problem. Past that, the instructions suggest using a barometric draft damper on the stove pipe which alot of people have pointed out is a recipe for a catastrophic chimney fire.
Dec 19, 2013 - Do you guys pack that furnace tight with wood at night? Off set points (the instructions for doing so are on page 17 of your owners manual). May 8, 2018 - The Norseman Legend is a highly efficient and performance oriented convection wood heater that will surprise even the most discerning.
If this is all the furnace you can afford, I would advise you to save your money for anything else. This furnace just isn't worth the frustration and danger.
AS/NZS 4013 Certified Wood Heaters Choosing, installing and maintaining a wood heater is an important decision. You should make sure your heater is fully certified and complies with the Australian Standard AS/NZS 4013. The following information will help guide you on what to look for when buying a wood heater, and our below provide details of compliant products on the market in Australia.
Wood Heater Regulations in Australia All solid-fuel heaters must comply with the Australian Standard AS/NZS 4013 for emissions. Since being introduced by industry representatives in 1992, these standards have changed the way wood heaters are tested so they’re better for the environment. It is illegal for anyone to sell wood heaters that do not comply with these standards.
The current emission limit for all new wood heaters sold in Australia is 2.5 grams of particulate emissions per kilo of wood burnt. All certified wood heaters must have an efficiency requirement of 55%. In comparison, non-certified wood heaters emit around 12 grams of particles per kilo of wood burnt and open fires emit roughly 17 grams per kilo. It is best to choose a certified wood heater with a low emission level and high efficiency rating. The lower the emission level, the less carbon your wood heater emits into the atmosphere and the less impact it has on the environment. The higher the efficiency, the less wood is needed to generate heat to your home. To make sure your wood heater complies with Australian regulations, check that it has a compliance plate and a current certificate of compliance.
